Study collection of Estonian art and architecture / assembled by Sten Karling. 1931-1981.

This study photograph collection traces the development of art and architecture in Estonia. Formed by art historian Sten Karling, the collection includes images made before World War II when Estonian art and architecture suffered heavy losses. Half the collection deals with Estonian themes: subjects include Estonian art, sculpture, archaeological digs and finds, architecture, and urban planning. The other half of the images are mostly of Swedish art, architecture, and landscape architecture, together with images of complementary French subjects, as well as of German and Flemish medieval sculpture. Approximately half the photographs are identified on the back.
